What on earth is that home screen
That’s a Wii System Menu clone used as a PC launcher. Channel grid, SD slot, envelope, the lot. In 2026.
What’s actually on it
- Games: Steam, Fortnite
- Minecraft ops: Modrinth + CurseForge (the “I have 247 mods and it still crashes” starter pack)
- Broadcast: YouTube + OBS
- “I am a developer now”: Cursor, OpenCode, Gemini
- Normal human: Chrome, WhatsApp
- Hall monitor: Malwarebytes, sitting there like a lanyard at a LAN party
- Bottom bar: committed to the bit. Friday 21:29 and the Wii is still the OS.
Verdict: not chaos. It’s a 13-year-old battle station with a Nintendo skin: play, mod, record, ask an AI, then pretend this is a 2008 living room. The only missing channel is Homework.
The roast
This launcher is what happens when a Wii and a IT helpdesk have a child and send it to Year 9.
You’ve got two Minecraft mod shops, three AI coding apps, Fortnite, and OBS — so the pipeline is: download 80 mods, ignore Malwarebytes, die in Fortnite, clip it in OBS, then ask Gemini why the FPS is 11.
The Wii button is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Mate, nobody’s inserting a Mario Kart disc. That’s Chrome. That’s WhatsApp. Your nan had this UI for Wii Sports. You’re using it to open Cursor.
And Malwarebytes as a Wii channel is the funniest part. It’s the one responsible adult in the room, trapped in a rounded rectangle, watching you launch CurseForge like “please don’t.”
9:29pm Friday and the home screen still looks like 2008. Respect for the theme. Concern for the SD card icon. There is no SD card. That’s a cry for help in Comic Sans energy.
If he asks what to change: nothing required. If he wants a sixth AI: no. One homework channel. That’s the roast and the note.
